Overview
The Village Computing Consortium is a multi-sector, international association of experts in ICT4D working to catalyze the global village computing movement. The Consortium seeks to identify and discuss emergent trends in village computing, and generate actionable insights for practitioners, policymakers, as well as technology and service developers and providers.
Mission
Our mission is to enable disadvantaged individuals and whole communities throughout the developing world to lift themselves out of poverty through the effective and sustainable use of the tools of the Information Age.
Our Approach
We support this effort by convening a global consortium of practitioners, policymakers, academics, and technologists working in village computing and its related fields (collectively referred to as the village computing space). Through consultations, surveys, and publications, the Village Computing Consortium serves as a platform on which to: identify key trends; aggregate and analyze existing research; and generate new ideas.
